Judicial Nominations

The 67th Montana Legislature granted the governor the authority to fill judicial vacancies through appointment. Upon receiving notice from the chief justice of the Montana Supreme Court of a judicial vacancy, the governor will solicit applications from and nominations of any lawyer in good standing who has the qualifications set forth by law for holding the vacant position.
